Hill Dash Tips
Hill Dash runs on real physics: weight, grip, springs and torque. That means good driving beats flooring it, every time. Here is how to climb, fly, land and earn more coins.
Climb Without Flipping
- Ease off when the nose comes up. On a steep climb the engine's push lifts the front wheels. Hold the gas and the wheelie keeps rising until the car goes over backwards. Lift off for a moment, let the front wheels touch down, then press again.
- Carry speed into a hill. Speed is good on the way down and dangerous on the way up. Build it on the downhill before a climb instead of fighting the slope from a standstill.
- Let go near the top. Arriving at a crest at full speed throws you into the air. Easing off just before the top keeps the wheels on the ground, which is also faster: in the air the wheels cannot push.
- Wheels spinning? Less gas, not more. On sand, mud and ice a spinning wheel has lost its grip; a gentler press lets it bite again.
Steer in the Air
Once the wheels leave the ground, the pedals turn the car: GAS leans it back and BRAKE leans it forward.
- Nose pointing down as you fall? Tap GAS to bring it up.
- Tail hanging down? Tap BRAKE to bring the nose over.
- Aim to land with both wheels together, parallel to the slope below you. Landing on one wheel bounces you; landing on the roof ends the run.
If the car tips past about 70 degrees and you still bring it back onto its wheels, that is a close-call save, and it pays coins.
Fuel and Nitro
- Fuel burns all the time, but about three times faster with a pedal down than when you coast. Roll down hills without the gas and the tank lasts much longer.
- A red can fills the tank right up, however empty it was. In a free ride the cans get further apart the further you go, so never skip one.
- A nitro bottle gives about two seconds of rocket push along the car, on the ground or in the air. You can carry three. Fire one on a long straight, up a hill you would not otherwise make, or to clear a lava crack.
- Running dry on long free rides? Upgrade the Fuel tank, or drive the Farm Tractor, which holds the most fuel of any vehicle.
What Tricks Pay
| Trick | How | Coins |
|---|---|---|
| Flip | A full turn in the air, forwards or backwards, landed on your wheels | 50, 200 for a double, 450 for a triple |
| Big air | 1.2 seconds or more off the ground | 50 a second |
| Wheelie | A second or more on the back wheels | 40 a second |
| Close-call save | Nearly over, then back on your wheels | 75 |
Combos. Land another trick within three seconds of the last and it is multiplied: twice for the second, three times for the third, up to five times. A big jump with a flip, straight into a wheelie, pays far more than the same tricks spread out.
Distance pays as well: a bonus every 500 metres, growing each time (50 coins, then 100, then 150 and so on).
Tips for Every World
- Green Hills. Learn the basics here: easing off on climbs and levelling the car in the air.
- Sun Dunes. Long dunes and a little less grip. Keep momentum over the tops instead of stopping on a slope.
- Rain Jungle. On mud, a steady light throttle grips best. Never stop on a muddy slope.
- Frost Peaks. Half the grip of grass. Gentle on the gas, and buy the Tyres upgrade before you go.
- Red Canyon. The steepest climbs of all. The Engine upgrade and a good run-up matter most here.
- Lava Ridge. Stop at the warning sign before a crack, then floor it up the ramp and jump. A nitro bottle makes the jump safe.
- Moon Base. Gravity is a fifth of Earth's, so every bump launches you. Expect long flights, steer the whole way down, and upgrade the Suspension for soft landings.
Earn Coins Faster
- Collect the daily reward every day: 100 coins on day one, 1,500 on the seventh day in a row.
- Play the daily challenge: 1,000 coins for reaching the target, in a car lent to you for the day.
- Win the races: up to 2,300 coins each, the first time you win them.
- Earn stars on the levels: the third star of a level pays double.
- Go for medals in every world's free ride: 250, 750 and 2,000 coins.
Missions pay too, and you always have three. Don't like one? Swap it for 100 coins.
