Birds and Coins
Six birds to fly, and every way to earn the coins that buy them, along with powers and traits.
The Six Birds
Every bird has its own colours and its own head and tail feathers, so you can tell them apart at a glance, even when they are small on a phone screen.
| Bird | Price | How it looks |
|---|---|---|
| CLASSIC | Free | The yellow bird every player starts with: two tufts on its head and a fan of three tail feathers. |
| EMBER | 25 | Fiery orange and red, with three tall spikes standing up off its head like a flame. |
| FROST | 50 | Icy blue, with one swept-back fin on its head and a forked tail. |
| MOSS | 90 | Leaf green, with a low pair of leaves on its head. |
| MIDNIGHT | 150 | Indigo blue, with two short horns and a forked tail. |
| PHANTOM | 250 | Pale silver-white and ghostly, with a bare head and one long streamer for a tail. |
Buy and switch birds in the Birds screen on the title page. A bird you have bought is yours for good, and you can switch between your birds at any time.
No Bird Flies Better
Every bird has exactly the same size where it counts: the same invisible hit box, the same weight and the same flap. The feathers are drawn outside the part of the bird that can touch a column, so a tall crest never costs you a crash, and a sleek one never saves you.
This is a promise, not an accident. If a bird you could buy made the game easier, every high score would come with a question mark over it. In Flappy Dash a score of 40 means the same thing whichever bird flew it.
If you do want to change how the game plays, that is what powers and traits are for: they are bought with the same coins, and each one is described honestly so you know exactly what you are getting.
Every Way to Earn Coins
| Where | How many | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Coins in the sky | 1 each | They sit in the gaps and float in arcs between columns. |
| Close calls | 1 or more | Pass a column with a whisker to spare. Chain them and each pays more, up to five times as much. |
| The daily challenge | Up to 150 a day | 3 coins per point on your best daily run. See the daily challenge guide. |
| Sharing your score | 20 a share | Up to three paid shares a day, and 50 extra the first time you ever share. |
| Arriving from a friend's link | 100 | Once, the first time you open a friend's shared score on a device. |
| Beating a friend's score | 50 | Once a day, when you score more than the friend whose link you opened. |
Coins you collect during a run are kept when the run ends, even if it ends badly. On this website coins are earned by playing only; they cannot be bought, and they have no value outside the game.
Share and Earn
Sharing is the quickest way to grow your coins while bringing a friend into the game:
- Finish a run. On the Game Over card, the Share button wears a small gold +20 tag while today's shares still pay.
- Tap it and choose WhatsApp, another app, or copy the link. Your 20 coins arrive straight away, plus 50 more on your very first share.
- Your friend opens the link. The game greets them with 100 coins and shows your score as the one to beat.
- If they score more than you, they earn 50 coins, and when they share their score back, the challenge comes round to you.
The limits are there to keep it fair. Three paid shares a day means sharing is a bonus, not a way to fill your purse without playing. The welcome gift is once per device, so opening the same link twice does not pay twice.
What to Buy
New players often spend their first coins on a bird, which is a fine choice: Ember costs only 25. If you would rather get better scores sooner, save for a trait (from 140) or a second power (from 300) instead. The powers guide suggests which to buy first, and the beginners guide has a plan for your first coins.
